Onward NRV Hosts Fall 2023 Manufacturing Leaders’ Summit

On October 17, 2023, manufacturing leaders from across the region gathered together at the Holiday Inn in Christiansburg Blacksburg to network and learn about leveraging talent needs with the local career and technical education directors (CTE).

Kevin White of Giles County Public Schools and Meghan Atkinson of Pulaski County Public Schools had the opportunity to speak to local manufacturers about the CTE programs and opportunities available to them to access the talent graduating from the NRV school systems.

Attendees had the opportunity to ask specific questions about what kind of certifications were available to the students and to share what kind of certifications are needed in their manufacturing operations. They also asked how the students were being trained and what kind of partnerships were available with the CTE programs.

The summits are held to foster collaboration among the NRV industry leaders, giving them a platform to define common challenges while presenting opportunities and resources to support the continued growth of the manufacturing industry in the NRV.
