Katie Boswell, Executive Director of Onward New River Valley, has announced the appointment of Ian Littlejohn to the position of Marketing Manager effective February 14, 2022. Ian will manage the branding, websites, and social media platforms for Virginia’s New River Valley and Onward NRV; promote the region as a premier destination to live, work, and do business; and forge marketing related partnerships for the organization.
“The Onward NRV team is excited to have Ian on board as our new Marketing Manager,” said Boswell. “His marketing experience and his passion for Virginia’s New River Valley will allow him to contribute greatly to the economic development of our region. He is truly a natural fit for our organization.”
Ian was born and raised in Colorado but arrived in the New River Valley by way of Delaware with his wife Jess and their 4 children. Ian was the Director of Business Development for a defense contracting firm prior to moving to Blacksburg. Looking to connect with the community, Ian began working as the Director of the Blacksburg Farmers Market in early 2015.
With Ian at the helm, the Blacksburg Farmers Market has become one of the most popular weekly destinations in the region. Ian attributes this success, in large part, to the development and successful implementation of the market’s promotional strategy. In his spare time, Ian enjoys exploring the region, taking advantage of the NRV’s copious outdoor activities, gardening, and playing guitar.
“I am honored to have been selected to serve as Onward New River Valley’s Marketing Manager,” said Littlejohn. “I am looking forward to working with the Onward team to highlight and promote the economic opportunities this diverse region has to offer.”
