Tech Leaders' Summit Fall 2020

Tech Leaders Summit 2022

Technology industry leaders from around the NRV joined guest speakers, Kimber Simmons with Virginia Career Works and Quina Weber-Shirk with the Virginia Tech Center for Economic and Community Engagement, to learn and discuss solutions to retain and recruit talent in the New River Valley.

During the summit, attendees:

  • Engaged with Virginia Career Works: In order to help Virginia businesses grow and stay competitive, VCW offers a vast array of resources. Connect with a Business Service Representative to help you address your workforce needs.
  • Learned about resources to help employers connect with interns: Participate in the Cooperative Education and Internship Program.

When thinking about your organizational hiring strategy as it relates to interns, focus on engaging students throughout the year. Develop a communication strategy for re-engaging with those students you have met while at a career fair, hosting an information session, or participating in Virginia Tech’s On-Campus Interviewing Program.

Twice a year, Onward NRV hosts Tech/IT Leaders’ Summits to create a forum to engage industry leaders and encourage collaboration around common challenges and opportunities. The summits are part of the organization’s five-year strategy to promote economic development in the NRV and support the continued growth of the tech sector in Virginia’s New River Valley.
